The Jaycees and United Blood Services are joining in the annual drive Aug. 29 at the United Blood Services office at 805 South 28th Ave. This year's drive is extra critical because area hospitals are completely out of Type O blood.
"One donor can save up to three lives, so why not roll up your sleeves and give the gift of life?," said Bradley Verrette, president of the group. "Our goal is to get 100 people to give this year."
The Jaycees will cook lunch on the grill for all donors. Each donor gets a t-shirt designed by cartoonist Ricky Nobile. The shirts are themed around the USM season opener to be played that weekend at "The Rock."
Anyone 17 or older in reasonably good health can give. Anyone aged 16 can give with parental consent. For information, call (662) 347-4267.
